New Professional LCD Displays From LaCie

LaCie announced two LCD display models designed with digital professionals in mind. The LaCie 119 is a 19” LCD display and the 120 model is a 20” inch LCD monitor. These new products will replace LaCie’s photon12/20 models.

The 19” LaCie 119 LCD Monitor offers an enhanced visual experience. It has a Premium MVA LCD panel capable of a high contrast ratio of 1000:1 and wide viewing angles of up to 170° horizontally and vertically. Read more...


BenQ offers world’s fastest 19-inch LCD

BenQ introduced the FP93G X, a Mac- and PC-compatible LCD display that the company claims has the world’s fastest gray-to-gray (GTG) response time: 2 milliseconds. It touts a native resoution of 1280 x 1024 pixels. Coming in January, 2006, the FP93G X will cost US$419.

BenQ is targeting hardcore gamers and others who demand high performance from their displays as prospective buyers for the FP93G X. The fast GTG response time provides comparable performance to a conventional CRT-based monitor, according to BenQ — that means clearer, sharper images with no lagging or image blurring when playing games or watching videos. NEC Introduces New Touch Screen LCD Monitors

NEC Display Solutions of America, the leading stand-alone provider of flat panel desktop displays, today announced the availability of the new AccuSync line of touch screen LCD monitors.

The four new NEC touch-enabled displays use the 15″ AccuSync LCD 52V and the 17″ AccuSync LCD 72V monitors with a choice of either capacitive or resistive touch screen technology to deliver interactive touch capabilities to markets such as retail point-of-sale, entertainment, hospitality, kiosks, medical, industrial, education and transportation. Hanns.G offering US$237 19-inch LCD monitor

A new company called Hanns.G has begun selling LCD monitors that feature panels from HannStar Display, according to Hanns.G. The company is currently offering an entry-level 19-inch LCD monitor (JG191A) in the Taiwan market for NT$7,990 (US$237).

The 10ms JG191A features a contrast ratio of 800:1, brightness of 300cd/m2 and a viewing angle of 140/130 (H/V) degrees.

Samsung to lower LCD monitor panel prices

Samsung Electronics will lower LCD monitor panel prices this month, with prices for 17-inch panels reduced by US$3 while 19-inch panel prices will drop US$2, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News.

Samsung was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.

During a recent trip to Taiwan, Keun Hee Park, president and CEO of Greater China, Samsung Group, indicated that demand for notebooks and 17-inch and 19-inch LCD monitor panels will remain strong next quarter.

Both DisplaySearch and iSuppli expect prices for 17-inch panel prices to fall. Read more...
